Went to Bash Bish Falls on the NY / MA border yesterday. The drive around the surrounding area was great but the 4-mile stretch of road in the park was worth the trip by itself! There wasn’t a single car, cyclist or hiker on that stretch of road and it was a perfect day! The Google Maps street view doesn’t do it justice. Has anyone been around that area?

Thanks for sharing your adventure!  I’m pretty sure I hiked into bishbash falls. I’ve backpacked the AT and  camped in the area south east of there but that was many years ago and before Miatas.  I bet there are lots of great Miata roads in that area.

We definitely need to combine driving and hiking next time! Me and my copilot wanted to visit Great Barrington for this trip.

Yes, I’ve been on that road many times. Rte 22 has many interesting areas that exist all along it’s length. I love that area of NY and for example, have driven rte 199 (south of Millerton) from rte 22 across the Hudson into the Catskills. I have the opinion that the NY roads are more realistic with their speed limits. Rte 22 can be scenic all the way up to where it parallels the Green Mtns. You must check out rte 2 (Mohawk Trail) from rte 22 in Petersburgh NY to Shelburne Falls MA (take 112 back home). Bash Bish is an unusual name in that the natural tendency is to put the “i” sound before the “a” as in “splish splash”, “tit for tat”, “this and that” etc (see tag line below which transposed the vowel sounds) .

Have you driven through the catskills at night? I was thinking of planning a 2 day trip out to that area sometime soon. And I’ll definitely be visiting all of those spots this summer!

I also would be interested in a 2 day trip to the Catskills. Never been there.
