After talking with Bob, he set up the PayPal just so folks like us could get their payments in early…and besides…I have’t written a check in years!!

It might take a few days for Brenda to get her act together.

@Joe, don’t you think this is too early for registration?

Just to compare, Miata Reunion does not even have their registration open until next year.

My point is, we could use our registration funds for something else e.g. V6 swaps, clutch upgrades, Holiday gifts, etc.

Joe can answer your question potentially, however I believe it is Mass Miata groups’ event in the beginning.

As for the dollars now or dollars later, sometimes you have to gamble to make things happen.   The cost for the event is usually 10-20K for a track rental.  Maybe it’s cheaper in September and if you book almost a year ahead?!?

    Clarification on the ‘non-refundable’ thing

Just got off the phone with Bob Baylis

This is a RAIN OR SHINE event.  if you choose to not show up because of rain..it is up to you to sell your spot or eat it.

There will be FULL REFUND if the event is cancelled.  for whatever reason…earthquake..landslide..pandemic lockdown..zombie apocalypse.

No refund if your car blows up prior to the event..

I am sure that something could be worked out if you end up in the hospital..jail or dead

Bob expects this MIATA ONLY event to be full by March-April timeframe. If you are one of the first ones to submit payment, you will be among the first to get a 20 minute session.  As the day goes on, things might work out that group 1 has a possibility of an extra session. I REALLY like that idea.. Groups will be organized in order of payment received.

Thinking back…I missed out on the MassMiata Fall for New England Sept 2019…3 day event… because that event was sold out…125 cars..a full year 1/2 before the event even happened!!…it was fully booked in late summer 2017.  ..Same thing with our own Club open autoX at LRP ..most spots were filled in the first two weeks and was fully booked before the one month Clubmember only period

Ya wanna take a chance and not get in to this one?..

Is anyone planning on purchasing the insurance?  If so, did you pay that ahead of time or is that something that is paid at the track on the day of?

    I would try her.  bgauvin@charter.net

I have a helmet, and will bring it and wear it if req.  Honestly I have always worn one at any track event.

Just got off the phone with Bob Baylis, organizer of this event.

He is now sweetening the pot a little bit…due to low entries, we are now looking at 4 sessions, behind a VERY quick pace car. (Same as their Fall for New England event a couple years ago)…but…they are now offering one additional open 20 minute or 20 laps (not sure) session…no pace car…for an additional $50 paid in cash at the track.  So all the hot shoes with track tires and really fast Miatas, can go at it with passing allowed.

That could get quite interesting…he has not put a limit on how many cars will be allowed to do that.

Very Cool!  I would normally be in on a point by passing session.  So we’ll see how i’m feeling and how the car is feeling!  Good thing we can make the decision on the day of the event.

There are still spots available for this event.  For those that are reluctant…this is a ‘pace car’ type track day.  Think our LRP autoX day…on steroids.  the ‘pace’ will be very quick, and no passing.  When i did this type of day a couple years back at this track with MassMiata at their Fall for New England event, i was able to go as fast as I was comfortable going.

No matter what your skill level, or comfort level…there will be a group that will fit your level.

Some will need to think about bringing extra shorts…you might just scare the !$#@% outta yourself!!

I am definitely looking forward to this one.

Another update directly from Bob on this event…gate opens at 8

the ‘open’ session for the hot shoes…will require a helmet. Rollbar for NA/NB…the NC/ND will still have to pass the broomstick test with the helmet on, or have an aftermarket roll bar that is higher than the stock roll hoops

Do they have a verdict on the RFs as to whether a rollbar would be needed?  I guess there’s no real options out there for RF rollbar that doesn’t permanently turn the car into a coupe.

See my post a couple down…the NC/ND will be allowed for all sessions…including the open session…if you can pass the broomstick test wearing a helmet.  helmet has to be below the top of the stock roll hoop

The ‘paced’  sessions a helmet is not required

I have a friend from Long Beach who is going to join us paying cash day of event.

$50 for the hot laps.  The price is reasonable.

However, I searched on nice hotels that I like to stay in the Hartford area like Holiday Inn Express rates are expensive.

So will just have to wake up early to be there before 9am.

Look for a place in Sturbridge….only about 20 minutes from the track.  Very reasonable rates at multiple places.

dave and i are going to be staying at the Econolodge in sturbridge…nothing fancy…just a place to sleep and rest on saturday evening…go up late afternoon on saturday…dinner and a a beverage or two and get a good night sleep before all day at the track. Rob LeClerc is most likely heading up saturday also to the same area.

    What a WONDERFUL day!!

Bob Baylis and the Palmer folks put on a great event.  I ended up with 6 sessions….my car did 7 when I let Chris Baylis take it out. Any7one in attendance will let you know that this was an absolute HOOT of a day….lots of track time on a course that is like a roller coaster.  Very technical and challenging for everyone from beginner to experienced.  Looking forward to doing this again next year.

Thank you to Bob Baylis and the Palmer Motorsports crew for putting together a real gem of a day. It’s one of those “you had to be there” experiences. I logged over 66+ track miles at Palmer Motorsports Sunday’s event.   Still consider myself a Novice and has lots to learn.  Nothing to prove here.

Lots to learn here like @ 0:47 on my dash cam give enough room between you and the car in front of you.
