What we have all been waiting for…a Club Event!!

the Wine/Dine ride was previously cancelled, but another Clubmember stepped up and planned a ride to replace the cancelled event.  I would like to thank Mike Z for planning a ride…a few details still to be worked out.

It will start in East Haven…exact spot I am waiting on the address for…and will end in the Middletown area…exact spot e re working on.  Restaurants that have outdoor seating that are willing to take a group…properly distanced, masked, etc, etc…are hard to come by.  We are waiting on the answer from our first choice in Portland…not sure if they will take us because their outdoor area is limited to 30 seats.  We may have to limit our numbers…a work in progress.  But there is progress!!

stay tuned and watch your Club email for details as we go forward…but at least we have something on the calendar and it is not a re-hash of a prior ride…and in an area we seldom venture

Had a nice chat with the owner of the restaurant that we are looking to end at…in Portland…and they are more than happy to accomodate a group of 26 bodies in their patio dining area…proper state mandated propocols in place…masks..etc..ets  Our count has to be EXACT prior to our arrival.  They only have so many allowed spaces on their patio…and we are not going to take ALL of their spots…

of course the indoor dining area will now be opening, with restrictions, on June 17…3 days after us

we are good to go for Sunday June 14…arriving at the restaurant sometime between 1 and 2…

I will get with Mike and nail down a better timeline…and start point address…etc..

At least we have an official event to do!!

    Joe,

I edited the event on the website so that our club members can sign up on line and a a maximum of 26 people can attend.  Reminder to members, when you RSVP choose 1 or 2 spaces if you and your co pilot will be having lunch.

    Mike

I need to make it clear.

When I signed up for this ride, I clicked on 2 tickets ( people) and I was blocked due to the event being full. I am the 6th person to sign up ??????

Diane and I will attend the ride and the restaurant!
    2 people

    Thanks for doing this ride.

I also could not “officially” rsvp to the event because it showed the event was full. Unless I hear otherwise, I will see you on Sunday.

    Thanks,

Sorry for the signup glitch, it is fixed! 🙂

As of 4:45pm 6/7/20 we have a total of 16 planning on attending the ride and lunch. ( Including those members  that had difficulties signing up and posted about it in the forum earlier today.)

Going forward if anyone else has difficulty signing up for the event please send me a message.

Note:  From your membership dashboard use the Events button and then the I’m attending tab to check on the status of your reservations and the number of spaces you reserved.

I guess the only thing needed now is a TIME!!!…I talked to Mike today…the way he has this set up it is sorta in 2 segments…the first half is a self paced with questions…kinda like my poker run, but without the cards…then we group up at the ‘midpoint’ and ride together to the endpoint…interesting way to do things…but hey…it SOMETHING…which we have not had much of a chance to do lately

Gathering time is 9:30 at th start point…then first car out will be at 10…which will put us to the endpoint sometime between 1:30 and 2pm for a well deserved beverage and food…

    see you all on sunday!!

As of 10pm JUNE 8th we have reached the maximum number of reservations for the luncheon.

However, club members are still encouraged to sign up for the run itself!
Michael’s run covers an area we seldom visit and includes some unique activities. So join in the fun and look forward to when club event planning gets back to normal.

I guess this event was sorely needed…as evidenced by the fact that we are now at the max for the restaurant at the end…not really our call on that…

Ssssoooooo…lets go out and have a good time…!!!

Just a little heads up on this event…Mike and I ran the route this afternoon…and we had a great drive.  Pre-running was a good idea…we made a few notes and one change …for the better.  this ride is a little different than our usual…the first part is more the scenic, and a little congested…but still worth the ride.  this is in areas we do not normally ride thru…there are a few loops JUST to check out the scenery…and the first half is more of a self paced drive with very good instructions (think Poker Run) so things will be a bit segmented between cars…not a big deal if you can read the instructions…then we will group up for the second half of the ride which is very entertaining…a lot crammed into 85 miles of route instructions…

Then we stopped at the endpoint for a nice meal and beverage…checked with the owner of the restaurant and made sure things were all set for our arrival…the window for that is 1:30-2pm…which we should be able to accomplish with little trouble…our ride this afternoon was three hours…with only one car…numerous stops, etc…

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday!!

I just wanted to drop a little note in here to thank everyone that came out yesterday for a beautiful ride …thanks again to Mike Z for stepping up and giving the Club an interesting route in an area that we don’t normally go to.  Along the shore provided many interesting and scenic views and an opportunity for clubmembers to slow down a bit and just enjoy the scenery…for a while…then it was off to the boondocks for some feally nice back roads twisty bits.  sure…we had a couple of glitches, and I hope that now everyone understands the importance of having, and using the radios…and keeping close to the car in front of you so that we don’t get big gaps.

Somehow we stumbled into a virtual car show and parade right at the end in Middletown …which turned out to be pretty interesting.  25 Miatas going one way and a hundred hot rods and muscle cars going the other…lol!!  We got into a lot of pictures that spectators were taking.  Thanks to Farrell’s restaurant for taking our large group on their patio…good food and great service.

Overall a very nice afternoon that I think everyone enjoyed…thanks again Mike!!
