Just wanted to get this thread started. I took a ride today and it is a repeat of the 2015 Spring Run. Can’t argue with success right!? It will start in CT and end in CT but most of the 85 or so miles will be in Massachusetts, my home state. Today in Otis and Blandford the trees had a nice coating of ice! I have spoken to the end place about lunch and it should be good, though due to inflation, a bit more expensive. And it will be a pre-paid buffet in a private room. I will post details soon, watch the “Events” signup page and of course, this Forum listing. This will be a good mix of winding roads and some highway, some numbered, some narrow slow. No dirt roads.

We were really looking forward to a Spring Run but unfortunately this conflicts with the Spring Start-Up at the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association. I’m sure you all will have a great time and I look forward to pictures. If any club members have interest in C.A.M.A. it would be great to see you drop by. The event runs sat/sun and I will have a vendor space. The location for the C.A.M.A. show is at the Eric Sloane Museum 31 Kent Cornwall Rd, Kent, CT 06757

    Jim, looking forward to it!

And I know my Miata is eligible of vintage plates, but probably not quite what C.A.M.A. has in mind! 😉

Sounds great Jim, let me know what I can do to help get this up on the page and if any logistical or day of help is needed.

Count at least me in and likely Angela as well!

In case you have not heard the details from the Events Page, here it is. Remember, this is a rain or shine event.

    SPRING RUN 2022 – APRIL 30, 2022

Place:           Geissler’s Parking Lot, Granby CT – 9J Bank Street, Granby CT

Time:           10:00 for driver’s meeting, 10:30 SHARP for departure

End Point:     Bear’s Smokehouse & Barbecue, 2152 Poquonock Ave, Windsor, CT 06095

    Menu here:  https://bearsbbq.com/hfw-menu

Timing:         End approx. 2:00 p.m. – BRING A SNACK SO YOU REMAIN CONSCIOUS.

This will be a good mix of small, curvy roads and some numbered highways. I believe I counted very few traffic lights! Two rest stops along the way (sometimes tough to plan in the early season).

Mostly no rough patches, some potholes but easy to avoid, or maybe by the end of April they will be repaired. Total trip distance, approximately 92 miles. (This would’ve been 85 miles but I had to change the meal stop).

John – You will need to signup for the event, which is NOT a forum post. Go to Events and follow the instruction. There is a limit of 30 cars, so do it soon.

I see 23 names on the list…so I am assuming that means 23 cars…not sure how the sign up limit is set yet…I know this one is capped at 30 cars.

Levi – You need to signup on the EVENTS page or you will NOT be one of the 30 cars allowed to ride. Signup for a ride is not done on the Forum.

    Jim,

The event says fully booked with only 23 registered.  Hence you see me and Joe’s post about this.

    Please advice.

Just swapped a few text messages with Sarge Tower about this event.  He was on the list…then asked to be removed…now he is able to attend again.  he tried signing up a few minutes ago, but his name is not appearing on the list.

he and his wife will be there tomorrow, but will not be going to the restaurant

I just want to thank Jim Merchant and his daughter for organizing and leading this drive by the countryside.   The route is beautiful.  I felt like I was on a tour at one point.

    Thank You!
<p style=”text-align: left;”>As always, it was great seeing my Nutmeg Miata regulars and new members.  Keep bringing those friendly smiles.</p>
Also want to thank Lance for sharing some pictures.  We are off to a good start!

Yes…was great day and ride. My grandson Cameron did a great job as Co-Pilot, checking off each instruction on the ride sheet as we went along……until the “Hummm of the Miata’s” put him to sleep at East St. Smell of BBQ, woke him up.

He was thrilled to come along and to meet Lances son Mathew. Maybe we can encourage more youth participation, on these shorter rides. 🙂

Thank You, Jim and Everyone…..See you next time.

Yes likewise, my son enjoyed spending time with your grandson!  The poker run in August is definitely 2 person, younger Co pilot, friendly!

But we can always schedule a random happening!
