    Hello all,

Joe left a card on my windshield at a parking lot in Haddam and then caught me getting into the car. We had a nice chat and I decided to join the club, sounds like there are some good times to be had and it’s an excuse to put some more miles on the MX-5. Shortly after our chat and sending my membership fee in this happened… needless to say I’ll be out of commission for a few weeks but I’m looking forward to the Leaf Peeping run. Oh and by the way the car is a 2020, isn’t a month old, and has less than 2,000 miles on it and this is my first accident in over 25 years…. It took it like a champ and there was no frame, suspension or drive train damage so basically bumper covers, some wiring, a tire and lighting, all in all I was very lucky. Hope to see you all out there.

    Regards,

    Mike

Bummer Mike! Hope it all gets fixed to your standards. I’m sure Joe will chime in here with his own encounter with a flying piece of plywood early on in his ND ownership. Welcome to the club, look forward to meeting you at the leaf peeping run, and hearing how well the repair went.

Thanks Dave, it could have been worse, no injuries and that’s what insurance is for. I just hope that they do a good job, I’ve heard good things about the shop but I guess I will just wait and see. See you at the leaf peeping run.

Oh man!!…that really sux…I know that you had just gotten the car and were enjoying it…definitely a chance encounter that day and nice conversation.

I know how you feel…my AE had a chance encounter with a flying piece of lightweight plywood at the 5K mile mark while I was driving on RT just south of torrington.  Not nearly as much damage, it was a glancing blow, but still not something I would care to repeat.

Hang in there and join in on the Leef Peeping ride next month

    Thanks Joe,

It was great meeting you and I’m looking forward to some rides. Sorry to hear about your plywood issue, I guess these things happen sometimes. It’s my first Miata and I’m learning why they have a cult following, can’t wait to get her back. See you soon.

I hope you get it back soon…in addition to the Leef Peep ride in October, I am putting together another ride in September…weekend of 19/20…and a good portion is in your neck of the woods…

    Hey Joe,

I’ll keep an eye out for any additional rides. The body shop says I’m looking at late September due to some back ordered parts but they are hoping to improve on that, I guess I’ll see. Hopefully I’ll have it back for the Leaf Peeping but I don’t think I’ll have it back for the 19/20. Enjoy and see you soon.

    Regards,

    Mike
