This is what went out to the general membership from our Secretary…just in case someone missed the email

    Dear Nutmeg Miata Club members,

As you all may have figured out, our annual Holiday Party has been cancelled due to COVID restrictions. But, in the meantime, we will still have our annual toy collection to benefit the TEAM organization. I talked with their representative last Friday and received the information below. Yes, the Club will still do the two bikes and our usual toy donation. BUT, the Club’s membership donation is a drop in the bucket compared to the huge pile of toys the membership provides from our holiday party.

Just because we can not have our party does not mean that kids should go without this Holiday season. Please consider making an on-line donation using the links below. All of our donations stay local, and help families in need right here in Connecticut We will also have a place to drop off presents for the kids on Saturday December 5, the original date of our Holiday Party.  I should have a place and time window lined up by this weekend.

I am aware of the current situation, as you all are, and the last thing we want is to have a Club member get sick, so we all have to be careful.  We have been doing a pretty good job this year so far.

Watch your email and the Forum for further information.

Wishing you all a healthy, happy, holiday season.

Just an update to the above information…I now have a time and place lined up for those that wish to make an in person dropoff of their toy donation.

Clocktown Brewing in Thomaston has agreed to let us use the parking lot in front of their brewpub for our collection.  This is a new place in Thomaston that recently opened.  Craft brews, other local brew and wine, and a good food menu!!.  A couple Clubmembers and I stopped in there on Black Friday…lots of indoor space, properly distanced of course…large outdoor patio with heaters…and somewhat conveniently located in Thomaston, just up the road from Modern Mazda. The Club will be collecting donations from 1-3pm on Saturday December 5.  After that time, the TEAM organization will pick up our donation for distribution.

Here is a link to the Clocktown webpage and the address

    Home

In the Historic Seth Thomas Clock Factory
    135 South Main Street
    Thomaston, CT 06787
    860.880.8240

This is also an opportunity for folks to support a new local business in these difficult times by not just dropping off your donation but stop in for a beverage and a snack.

I hope to see a good number of our Clubmembers next Saturday!!

    Joe

Couple things…tomorrow weather is supposed to be lousy…oh well, we can’t change that.  We will still be doing our collection from 1-3.  If you decide not to come in person, use the links that are posted in this thread and in the email all clubmembers got this week to show your support.  I talked to Lisa at TEAM today, and she told me that there have been donations with a notation from Nutmeg Club members.  That is very good to hear!  thank you very much!!

Not a bed turnout for an unofficial winter event. I think my count was around 18 club members who stopped by or came in with toys.

The food and beverages were excellent. And the company wasn’t bad either.

What really struck me was hearing fro Lisa and Bill of the TEAM organization about what our toys and donations will mean to the community, very moving. They do some really amazing things for so  many local families in need.Of course we as a club have always concentrated on the holidays, but their efforts are year round.

Thank you for posting these pics.  Nice afternoon…good to see a new face too!! Thank you to all the Clubmembers that took the time to stop in and drop off a toy donation.  The TEAM folks were very appreciative.  For those that did not make it, it is not too late to help out.  Follow the links in previous posts to the TEAM donation pages
