There are some who recommend replacing both master and slave, even if the master shows no signs of failure. Not something I would do.
On my old ’93, I replaced several failed slave cylinders and never touched the master for over 170K+ miles.
I’d be cautious about the quality of cheap aftermarket parts and recommend known brands only. Poor quality casting, machining and low quality rubber parts may not last as long as a quality brand part.
If you follow a schedule of flushing the fluid every two to three years and the slave may never fail again.
