I’ve driven year round in Miatas since 1990, NA, NB, now NC. in my experience 4 dedicated snow tires make the miata a beast, a real tank in the snow.

 

I go 1 inch diameter smaller and narrower and increase the side wall so overall diameter is unchanged.  My NC has 195 55 16 snows instead of 205 45 17 OEM.

 

Highly recommend getting from Tirerack.  Get 4 steel wheels, they arrive mounted and balanced, avoids having to mount and unmount tires 2 x year.

I like Blizzaks, I am sure others have different opinions.
